Active Shooter Prevention Expert

Chris Grollnek

Chris Grollnek is the nation’s most sought-after professional in the Active Shooter Prevention field. As one of just a few legacy experts, Chris’ expertise is in high demand across the nation and across industries. Chris provides strategic advisory services for the highest levels of government and the most senior executives in the country. He’s also retained by families seeking criminal and financial restitution for the loss of loved ones during an active shooter event. Recently, Chris was the senior consultant and lead case investigator for one of the worst school massacres in history. The families were awarded more than $200 million with another $100 million pending.

Chris is internationally recognized as one of the leading experts and authorities on the phenomenon of “active shooter” events and prevention. He has a post graduate degree in the field of Administration of Justice and Security. In addition, Chris was involved in an active shooter event which enabled him to identify and inform the types of strategies that can actually reduce injury and lives lost. From all of these experiences, the PRO model was born.

The PRO model was purpose-built for the general public to provide prevention strategies as well as response and options. Chris is available to share his expertise and to address what he describes as the three tenets of active shooter prevention: Prevention, Response, and Options (P.R.O.).

Prevention Tenet 1: Re-educate the public PREVENTION is, in fact, possible.

Prevention Tenet 2: Revamp and evolve RESPONSE strategies based on new learnings from recent events.

Prevention Tenet 3 – Optimize the outcome

Provide OPTIONS to our communities that limit injury and death.

While many try to exploit these types of tragedies for their own personal gain, Grollnek and the organization he founded to support these efforts, the Active Shooter Prevention Project, is the “One” who has a unified plan with all of the experts that can make a real difference. Not only can his team train how to PREVENT future active shooter events, when we do have one, the general public will have the only proven method to limit the loss of life and injury.

Chris was recently invited to create and film an active shooter prevention video designed to train the entire Department of Justice semi-annually. It’s important to note that the DOJ has the most well-trained assessors and trainers for active shooter and domestic terrorism events around the world, and they hand-selected Chris to provide their new standard and training.

He has appeared on numerous national television networks, including Fox, CNN, MSNBC, Fox Nation, Fox Business, OANN, ABC, CBS, NBC, BBC, and numerous syndicated radio broadcast programs. What’s special about Chris is that he crosses the media from left to right. When in his hands, Chris’ undeniable experience keeps this topic from being politically polarizing. This is about our children. What could be more important?

Chris Grollnek remains steadfast in his mission to pursue excellence, making all businesses and public locations especially schools, houses of worship, and open public places safe from active shooters and domestic terrorism events. In Chris’ most heartfelt statement, he shared, “It’s time we live without worry.”

Frequently asked questions

What is the best way to hire Chris Grollnek to speak?

Email info@aspppro.com or sign up here: https://aspppro.com

What should I look for when hiring someone to do a security assessment, specifically an active shooter assessment?

First-hand experience with active shooter events. Be sure not to hire someone who uses Run-Hide-Fight or x as sole strategy. The PRO model is the only total solution which focuses on Prevention First. If your assessor isn’t focused on Prevention First, we would caution you not to hire them. Lastly, cost should not be considered an issue when you are developing a plan to protect human life. Make sure you are getting appropriate value for a risk and security assessment.

What should I look for when hiring someone to provide active shooter training for my school?

First-hand experience with active shooter events. Be sure not to hire someone who uses Run-Hide-Fight or x as sole strategy. The PRO model is the only total solution which focuses on Prevention First. If your assessor isn’t focused on Prevention First, we would caution you not to hire them. Lastly, cost should not be considered an issue when you are developing a plan to protect human life. Make sure you are getting appropriate value for a risk and security assessment.

What should I look for when hiring someone to assist with an active shooter lawsuit?

First, be sure you find someone who’s assisting for the right reasons. You are looking for an individual or team that represents and is focused on the families and parents of lost children and not themselves and their reputation. Second, be sure they have a track record of consulting with a successful settlement.

What are the most important Lessons Learned from recent active shooter events?

The rate of pre-event testimony or posting of a manifesto went from 57% to 80% during the last ten major incidents. 35% of them live-streamed it and 100% posted it on social media. It’s sick, but each shooter is trying to outperform the last.

Is Run-Hide-Fight still the recommended response for an active shooter event?

By itself, no. As a starting point, it can be useful. Police are not coming for at least 8-minutes, and when they do come, most are not going to come in for at least 20 more minutes. We must understand that we, as the general public, are the first responders. And we must train how to respond and learn about the safest and best options. With ballistic-resistant glass and a ballistic shield like Wingsheild in place, Run-Hide-Fight might be a good option.

Is it best to shelter in place or evacuate when an active shooter event erupts?

As aforementioned, run-hide-fight could be the right option depending upon the situation. In addition, if you have ballistic-resistant glass and a ballistic shield like Wingsheild in place, you may shelter in place. If there is the risk of an improvised explosive device (IED) or bomb, you will want to run and get out quick. We also may train if you hear shots on the left run and get out to the right. It all depends upon your organization’s individual security and risk assessment.

What's the difference between cover and concealment as it relates to shelter in place during an active shooter event?

Cover is a predetermined location for refuge that is hardened or purpose-built to prevent bullets from penetrating. Concealment is when you hide but where you are hiding is not a safe place. It’s a temporary place for you to stay while you are planning to move to a shelter or other cover.
